Male Hike Leader

Supporting Boys, Fathers & Male Role Models Through Nature

In our community, many boys are growing up without enough opportunities to spend meaningful time with their fathers or male role models. Families often tell us they wish there were more activities where boys could bond with the men in their lives in a relaxed, natural setting somewhere without pressure, without judgement, and away from screens.

A Male Hike Leader is someone warm, approachable, and skilled in outdoor leadership, who can guide boys, their dads, and male carers on simple, safe nature walks and outdoor adventures. This isn’t just about hiking it’s about connection, confidence, and giving boys the chance to be themselves while learning from positive male figures.

Why This Programme Matters

Boys thrive outdoors. They open up more when they’re walking side by side rather than sitting face to face. Fathers and male carers often say they feel uncertain about joining traditional family programmes, but nature‑based activities feel comfortable and welcoming.

A Male Hike Leader will help bridge this gap by offering:

  • a friendly male presence
  • a calm space for boys to talk and explore
  • simple outdoor activities that strengthen the bond between boys and their male role models
  • opportunities for dads to feel more involved in their children’s lives

Many families don’t need specialists—they simply need someone who can gently encourage, guide, and bring people together.

Real Stories That Show the Need

A dad wanting to connect
A father recently told us, “I want to spend time with my son, but I don’t always know what to do.”
On a guided hike, they might laugh together, explore a trail, and share small victories—like reaching the top of a hill they climbed together.
Result: confidence grows on both sides.

A quiet boy finding his voice
A gentle, shy 7‑year‑old might feel overwhelmed in busy groups, but on a peaceful walk he may begin chatting about school, worries, or dreams.
Result: he feels seen and heard.

A boy without a father figure
One boy may attend with an uncle or older brother because he doesn’t have a father at home. Being around a trustworthy Hike Leader and other positive male figures offers guidance and healthy role modelling.
Result: a sense of belonging and emotional security.

Male carers needing community too
Many dads and male carers admit they feel isolated.
On a group walk, they naturally begin talking to each other sharing experiences, challenges, and laughs.
Result: stronger fathering, stronger families.
