Community Day Care Centre

A place where everyone feels seen, cherished, and supported.

Our vision is simple, to build a place where every person who walks through the door feels welcomed, comforted, and valued. It will be a sanctuary of kindness, companionship, and joy, a space where stories are shared, friendships blossom, and no one feels alone.

The Barking Muslim Association (BMA) Day Care Centre provides access to a wide range of services in a safe, friendly environment where everyone is treated with dignity and respect.

You will attend the Day Centre one day a week for 12 weeks, spending time with others who may be in similar situations.

Who We Are

We are a compassionate and dedicated team, made up of people from many different backgrounds. By bringing together a wide range of skills, experiences, and lived understanding, we work closely with participants to provide high-quality, person-centred care. Kindness, empathy, and a shared commitment to supporting others guide everything we do.

We know that health and social care services can sometimes feel confusing or hard to access. That’s why we focus on removing barriers and making support feel more approachable, responsive, and tailored to individual needs.

For over 40 years, BMA has been deeply rooted in the local community, developing inclusive and innovative projects that respond to the changing needs of local people. Our long-standing presence has helped us build trust, strong partnerships, and a genuine understanding of the communities we serve.

With a proven track record of promoting social inclusion, improving health and wellbeing, and strengthening community connections, BMA is well placed to deliver a Day Care Centre that truly makes a difference. Working alongside residents, local authorities, and partner organisations, we are committed to creating a service that supports individuals, families, and the wider community.

Our Service

At the BMA Day Care Centre, your day is shaped around you. We take the time to understand your needs and interests so that your experience feels comfortable, enjoyable, and meaningful. Our service welcomes adults aged 18–65 and those aged 65+, supporting people with a wide range of needs, including physical disabilities, sensory impairments, dementia, and age-related conditions.

The centre offers a safe, friendly, and inclusive space where people can relax, take part in engaging activities, and enjoy spending time with others. Our aim is to support wellbeing, reduce loneliness, encourage independence, and provide reassurance for both individuals and their families – while also helping to ease pressure on health and social care services.

Background & Need

Many people in our community experience challenges that can affect their quality of life, such as:

  • Feeling isolated or lonely, which can impact mental wellbeing
  • Limited opportunities to take part in enjoyable activities or socialise with others
  • Increased reliance on health and social care services due to issues that could be prevented with the right support
  • A lack of information, connections, and guidance to help maintain independence and day-to-day wellbeing

At the BMA Day Care Centre, we help address these challenges by bringing people together in a welcoming setting. Alongside companionship and structured activities, we offer support with accessing information and services. This includes friendly signposting to internal and external support, such as advocacy services, help with form filling, support to attend health-related appointments, or guidance around practical matters like funeral arrangements.

By offering care, connection, and support all in one place, our Day Care Centre helps people feel more confident, supported, and connected to their community.

A Loving and Compassionate Team

They will include:

  • Caring Support Workers who treat everyone with respect
  • A creative Coordinator/Manager ensuring smooth running of the service
  • A kitchen assistant who prepares comforting, nutritious meals
  • Volunteers who share kindness, patience, and time

Every member of the team understands that compassion is just as important as care.
